Healthy Drinks for Ramadan

One of the quickest ways to replenish your energy, whether it’s at Sahur or Iftar, is with nutritious drinks. For those who practice fasting, consuming a highly nutritious meals and drinks in the early morning and late at night helps sustain you through the day.


These are some healthy drink recipes that you can try out this Ramadan.


Healthy Breakfast Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup Australia's Own Soy Milk

3/4 cup low fat yogurt

1/4 cup muesli

2 medium bananas (sliced and frozen)

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

2 tsp maple syrup or honey

1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions:

Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth

Pour in a serving glass and enjoy immediately




Peanut Butter & Dates Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 ripe banana

4-5 pitted dates

1 frozen banana

2 tbsp Peanut Butter & Co Bee's Knees

1/4-1/2 cup ice


Instructions:

Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend till smooth

If you prefer it thinner, add more almond milk





Guava Aqua Fresca

Ingredients:

2 cups pink guava juice

3 tbsp Lazy Lemon juice

1/4 tbsp masala spice

1/4 cup sparkling water

4-6 ice cubes

fresh mint leaves


Instructions:

Add lemon juice and masala spice to pink guava juice and stir, then strain

Pour the juice over ice cubes in a glass and top up with sparkling water

Garnish and enjoy



Mango Colada

Ingredients:

1 cup ripe mango pieces

3 tbsp sugar

1/2 cup coconut cream

3/4 cup Australia's Own coconut milk

1/2 cup pineapple juice

ice cubes


Instructions:

Blend together mango pieces, sugar and coconut cream until smooth

Add coconut milk and pineapple juice and blend until mixed well

Pour mixture over ice cubes and enjoy



Almond Saffron Milk

Ingredients:

4 cups OraSi almond milk

Large pinch of saffron

1 tbsp peeled almonds

2 cardamom pods (whole)

1 tbsp honey


Instructions:

Using a mortar and pestle, grind almonds to a paste

In a small bowl, combine 3 tbsp almond milk with saffron

In a saucepan, boil the remaining almond milk for 10 minutes

Add cardamom, almond paste, honey and saffron mixture to the pot and simmer for 5 minutes

Remove cardamom pods and serve warm



Mixed Berry Tonic

Ingredients:

1 cup frozen mixed berries

4 tbsp maple syrup

1 tbsp lemon juice

6 cans (200ml each) Fitch & Leedes tonic water

ice cubes

lemon slices and fresh mint as garnish


Instructions:

Blend frozen berries, maple syrup and lemon juice until smooth and pour into a large pitcher

Add ice cubes, lemon slices and mint

Pour tonic water into the pitcher and stir

Serve cold and enjoy
